After a defensive mix-up in SC Gilmonde's zone, Alfredo Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Viriato Viana came out of the goal and Alfredo Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SC Gilmonde's Viriato Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricardo Sousa in the 23rd minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, SC Gilmonde's Xavier Matias sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorge Mota narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 26 minutes into the match, Cotinho's goal looked a bit too open when José Garcia came free, but Jorge Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xavier Matias got free with Jorge Mota in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Alexandre Azevedo fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cotinho's protests and gave Alexandre Azevedo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cotinho getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Alexandre Azevedo hit a great ball. Jorge Mota made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Xavier Matias sent off a good shot on target. Alfredo Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge Mota showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. 43 minutes into the match, Cotinho's goalkeeper Jorge Mota had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xavier Matias. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, José Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Gilmonde's supporters rose to their feet, but José Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Mota breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Xavier Matias who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 48thth minute tested the skills of Jorge Mota when he managed to save the team from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredo Costa made a kick off. SC Gilmonde's Viriato Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Costa in the 52nd minute of play. José Garcia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jorge Mota read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Ricardo Sousa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Viriato Viana having to make a save. 66 minutes into the match, SC Gilmonde's goalkeeper Viriato Viana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ricardo Sousa. The supporters of SC Gilmonde booed when Cotinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. SC Gilmonde's Francisco Barros couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 71st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cotinho. 73 minutes into the match, Cotinho's goal looked a bit too open when Heitor Dantas came free, but Jorge Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Cotinho getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Lourenço Fernandes hit a great ball. If Xavier Matias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 76 minutes into the game, José Garcia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jorge Mota was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ricardo Sousa was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 80th minute. Cotinho's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Thanks to some nice moves Ricardo Sousa could shoot a difficult shot in the 84th minute, which Viriato Viana however easily saved by the left post. If José Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, Cotinho's goal looked a bit too open when José Garcia came free, but Jorge Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfredo Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in SC Gilmonde's zone, Alfredo Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Viriato Viana came out of the goal and Alfredo Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. SC Gilmonde were victorious despite being under pressure from Cotinho for much of the match.
