Diogo Trindade came out of the goal and Afonso Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gustavo Barbosa charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gustavo Barbosa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Jou booed when SC Amarantinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. SC Amarantinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jacinto Garcia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 25 minutes, Heitor Faria mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jou and the SC Amarantinho players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Jou's Heitor Faria got a free kick in the 25th minute. João Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diamantino Leite in the 26th minute of the match. If Afonso Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute, Joaquim Mendes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diamantino Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. João Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Diamantino Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Jou defense, Jacinto Garcia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Almeida. The Jou fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Almeida should have stopped the shot. After 48 minutes of play Jou's Heitor Faria was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 49 played minutes Jou got a freekick which was hit by Heitor Faria. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Diamantino Leite to strike the kick off in the second half. Fábio Pedroso's late challenge caught a SC Amarantinho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fábio Pedroso helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 62nd minute of the game. One of Jou:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SC Amarantinho:s goal. In the 64th minute, SC Amarantinho got a penalty, and Miguel Vaz placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. Abel Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 69th minute, Joaquim Mendes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Jacinto Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Amarantinho's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacinto Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jacinto Garcia in the 72ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of João Almeida, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jacinto Garcia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but João Almeida made a huge save. If Jacinto Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Jou getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Luís Miranda hit a great ball. In the 82ndth minute of the game Diamantino Leite who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jou's João Almeida was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. SC Amarantinho's Manuel Correia got his second yellow card of the match in the 84th minute. The referee ordered Manuel Correia off the ground. After 85 played minutes SC Amarantinho got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Correia. Jacinto Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Jou's João Almeida got control of the ball when Jacinto Garcia tried to sneak it across the goal line. 100 minutes into the match, SC Amarantinho's Jacinto Garcia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Almeida narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
