The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Emílio Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. After 19 minutes, Alexandre Macedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Covas and the Rome FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, SC Covas's Alexandre Macedo got a free kick in the 19th minute. Emílio Tavares's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 27thth minute, Nuno Viegas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Jacinto Jesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. SC Covas's Nuno Viegas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raul Mota in the 35th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, SC Covas's goal looked a bit too open when Raul Mota came free, but Nuno Viegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raul Mota in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nuno Viegas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 41 minutes, Pedro Araújo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Covas and the Rome FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to SC Covas getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Pedro Araújo hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the match, SC Covas's goalkeeper Nuno Viegas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emílio Tavares. 43 minutes into the game, Abel Trindade was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Covas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rome FC the free kick. Abel Trindade hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alexandre Macedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Raul Mota had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. In the 55th minute, Américo Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nuno Viegas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Rome FC's Jorge Faro got control of the ball when Raul Nogueira tried to sneak it across the goal line. 61 minutes into the game, José Veiga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rome FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Covas the free kick. The supporters of SC Covas booed when Rome FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Veiga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexandre Macedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alexandre Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Jorge Faro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Veiga got his second yellow card in the match during the 72nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Rome FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. José Veiga hit a great ball. Jorge Faro came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Covas's Raul Nogueira. But to his dismay, Raul Nogueira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Alexandre Macedo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jorge Faro. That made the score 1-2 in the 77 minute of play. A collision led to SC Covas getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Raul Matos hit a great ball. Raul Nogueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Jorge Faro made a huge save. The Rome FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. SC Covas were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
