Vítor Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in SC Baceiros's zone, Gil Carneiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Sousa came out of the goal and Gil Carneiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Moniz in the 16th minute of play forced Janas FC's goalkeeper Carlos Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlos Cunha was out of position in the 19 minute of play, and Paulo Moniz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Paulo Moniz really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Vítor Simões took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pedro Sousa. Pedro Sousa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 27 minutes into the game, Janas FC's Joaquim Leite nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pedro Sousa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. A collision led to SC Baceiros getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Pedro Silva hit a great ball. In the 31st minute of the match Gustavo Garcia shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Sousa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Joaquim Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Sousa having to interfere. When David Brás fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Janas FC's protests and gave David Brás a yellow card for diving instead. After 36 played minutes Janas FC got a freekick which was hit by David Brás. When SC Baceiros's Paulo Moniz in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Janas FC's goalie prevented a goal. Carlos Cunha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fábio Aguiar in the 40th minute. Vítor Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Pedro Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Leite in the 44th minute of play. After the first half Janas FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joaquim Leite made a kick off. Carlos Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fábio Aguiar in the 55th minute of play. Pedro Sousa was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Cristóvão Pires. Joaquim Leite struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Pedro Sousa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Janas FC. Vítor Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Pedro Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Sousa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vítor Simões in the 67th minute. In the 75th minute, Amadeu Machado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 76th minute, Paulo Moniz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 77 played minutes Janas FC got a freekick which was hit by Gil Carneiro. After recieving a nice pass, SC Baceiros's Manuel Assis tried to score from far away in the 78th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 80th minute Fábio Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo Moniz struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Carlos Cunha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Baceiros. When Vítor Simões came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Janas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Simões couldn't finish the play. Vítor Simões was extremely unlucky when he, in the 89th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Pedro Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Leite, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Pedro Silva's late challenge caught a Janas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Silva helped the player get up and apologised. In the 95th match minute, SC Baceiros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Silva to maneuver through the defense. After 96 minutes, Manuel Assis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Baceiros and the Janas FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 96 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SC Baceiros! When the match had been going on for 98 minutes, Janas FC's Gustavo Garcia got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Pedro Sousa. The Janas FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Janas FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
