Fernando Mota showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Magalhães, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 24th minute Delfim Leite shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Mota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delfim Araújo in the 25th minute of play forced SC Perofico's goalkeeper Nuno Pires to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Delfim Araújo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A hard shot by Mário Neto from long distance, 52 minutes into the match, got Nuno Pires's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 54 minutes into the match, SC Perofico's Pedro Magalhães sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fernando Mota narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexandre Matos during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
