Cândido Setúbal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Baptista having to interfere. After 11 minutes, Albertino Cardoso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Covais FC and the Mourelo players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Covais FC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Albertino Cardoso hit a great ball. 13 minutes into the match, Covais FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Assis came free, but Amílcar Teixeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 16th minute, Carlos Henriques hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amílcar Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Assis in the 21st minute of the match. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Covais FC's goalkeeper Amílcar Teixeira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Amílcar Teixeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Assis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Moreira struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Amílcar Teixeira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mourelo. 32 minutes into the match, Cândido Setúbal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jorge Baptista. Mourelo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cândido Setúbal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 37 minutes into the match, Covais FC's goalkeeper Amílcar Teixeira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Moreira. João Moutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Baptista having to interfere. Jorge Baptista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cândido Setúbal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexandre Rodrigues blasted a shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Amílcar Teixeira having to make a save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cândido Setúbal to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Moutinho got free with Jorge Baptista in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 56th minute of the game. One of Mourelo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Covais FC:s goal. When the match had been going on for 58 minutes, Covais FC's Bernardo Valente got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jorge Baptista. Cândido Setúbal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cândido Setúbal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Baptista having to interfere. Ricardo Neto charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ricardo Neto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Mourelo booed when Covais FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 74 played minutes Covais FC got a freekick which was hit by Albertino Cardoso. In the 79th minute, Jorge Assis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amílcar Teixeira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. When Mourelo's Jorge Assis in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Moutinho got free with Jorge Baptista in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Covais FC's Cândido Setúbal in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mourelo's goalie prevented a goal.
