After a defensive mix-up in SC Funcao's zone, Rodrigo Soares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sérgio Queirós came out of the goal and Rodrigo Soares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sérgio Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hélder Bessa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Rodrigo Soares came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Guistola fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodrigo Soares couldn't finish the play. If Hélder Bessa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Funcao's Joaquim Moutinho got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 17th minute, Joaquim Moutinho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Funcao fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If António Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, SC Funcao's José Gaspar got a free kick in the 26th minute. Domingos Queirós took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 28th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sérgio Queirós. SC Funcao's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hélder Bessa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sérgio Queirós having to interfere. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. António Pires was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodrigo Soares got free with Sérgio Queirós in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 57 minutes into the match, Guistola's goal looked a bit too open when Joaquim Moutinho came free, but Filipe Vaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afonso Guerreiro's late challenge caught a SC Funcao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Afonso Guerreiro helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Funcao booed when Guistola was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Guerreiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Filipe Vaz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Moutinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After having played for 68 minutes, António Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Funcao's supporters crossed their fingers, but António Pires was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joaquim Moutinho in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Filipe Vaz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gaspar Assis kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Hélder Bessa took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Sérgio Queirós to make any attempt to save it. After some careless play in the SC Funcao defense, Rodrigo Soares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sérgio Queirós. The SC Funcao fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sérgio Queirós should have stopped the shot. If Joaquim Moutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. António Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in SC Funcao's zone, Viriato Queirós stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sérgio Queirós came out of the goal and Viriato Queirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Guistola supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Guistola would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
