João Martins made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ricardo Rodrigues in the 13th minute. In the 14th match minute, Fratel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cláudio Tavares to maneuver through the defense. Joel Carneiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Carneiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Pinheiro in the 18th minute of play. In the 26th minute Ricardo Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sandro Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Martins having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Pinheiro in the 42nd minute of play forced SC Assares's goalkeeper Joel Carneiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Fratel's Francisco Leite got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The audience held their breath when Emanuel Martins in the 45th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the João Martins's left hand side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ricardo Pinheiro to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Fratel defense, Sandro Ramos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Martins. The Fratel fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Martins should have stopped the shot. If Sandro Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mariano Trindade did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Joel Carneiro 65 minutes into the match. Manuel Pinheiro's late challenge caught a SC Assares's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manuel Pinheiro helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Fratel getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Manuel Pinheiro hit a great ball. When Ricardo Pinheiro came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Fratel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Pinheiro couldn't finish the play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
