The supporters of Serreta FC booed when Sameiro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Fontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 5th minute, Álvaro Reis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lúcio Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexandre Porto having to interfere. If Viriato Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sameiro FC's Francisco Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Catarino Vale in the 20th minute of play. Viriato Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Francisco Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Viriato Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Viriato Cardoso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Francisco Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. A collision led to Sameiro FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. David Gonçalves hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Álvaro Reis in the 33rd minute of play forced Serreta FC's goalkeeper Alexandre Porto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute of the match Sandro Leiria sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alexandre Porto skillfully saved the ball. When Viriato Cardoso came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Serreta FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Viriato Cardoso couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Cardoso to make the kick off. After having played for 66 minutes, Viriato Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Serreta FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Viriato Cardoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Lúcio Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Serreta FC's Viriato Cardoso slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Francisco Rocha. That made the score 0-2 after 77 minutes of play. If Catarino Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Sameiro FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Serreta FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Serreta FC.
