Thanks to some nice moves Sebastião Oliveira could shoot a difficult shot in the 10th minute, which Abel Vaz however easily saved by the left post. Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, Abel Vaz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some careless play in the SC Coelhal defense, Joaquim Amaro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nuno Moura. The SC Coelhal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nuno Moura should have stopped the shot. Abel Vaz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sebastião Oliveira in the 23rd minute. After 27 minutes of play, Rates's Fábio Barbosa made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rates reached it. After having played for 36 minutes, Emanuel Brás managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Coelhal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Brás was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rates would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
