The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sebastião Oliveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sebastião Oliveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. SC Coelhal's Nuno Moura played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Esteves in the 39th minute of play. Sebastião Oliveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xavier Resende having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nuno Esteves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, SC Coelhal's Afonso Viana seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Afonso Viana the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of SC Coelhal protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Afonso Viana had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee gave SC Arrentella a penalty, 55 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jacinto Cunha, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SC Coelhal's Nuno Moura. 2-2. 59 minutes into the match, SC Coelhal's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Esteves came free, but Nuno Moura reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A very good chance. Nuno Moura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Esteves, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute.
