After a defensive mix-up in Poupas's zone, Sérgio Lopes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diamantino Matias came out of the goal and Sérgio Lopes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rafael Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from António Miranda in the 42nd minute of play. Simão Borges's late challenge caught a Poupas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Simão Borges helped the player get up and apologised. Simão Borges hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute of the match Afonso Andrade sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rafael Soares skillfully saved the ball. If Bruno Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sérgio Lopes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the game, Azenha FC's Sérgio Lopes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. If José Araújo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rafael Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Araújo in the 94th minute of the match. António Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Soares having to interfere.
