Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Fernando Coelho started the match with the kick off. If Cristiano Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 4 in the game by Paulo Assis from a close distance when the talented João Moniz managed to make a qualified save. Mealhada FC's players were relieved. Cristiano Aguiar had several of the Mealhada FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 7 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed João Moniz as he didn't even see the shot coming. After a rather tough play, Gralhos's Armindo Assunção got a free kick in the 11th minute. A collision led to Mealhada FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Álvaro Pacheco hit a great ball. Paulo Assis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute Rui Nunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adelino Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Gralhos's Jacinto Trindade got a free kick in the 20th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Mealhada FC's Rui Barbosa broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Gralhos's Adelino Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Coelho in the 23rd minute of play. When Armindo Assunção fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gralhos's protests and gave Armindo Assunção a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Mealhada FC booed when Gralhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armindo Assunção didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute Rui Nunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adelino Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adelino Reis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Coelho in the 32nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Mealhada FC's zone, Cristiano Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Moniz came out of the goal and Cristiano Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Fernando Jesus fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mealhada FC's protests and gave Fernando Jesus a yellow card for diving instead. The goalkeeper, João Moniz, was totally fooled by Gralhos's Jacinto Trindade, who 42 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Cristiano Aguiar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gralhos's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristiano Aguiar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Moniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cristiano Aguiar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gralhos's Adelino Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Coelho in the 52nd minute of play. The Gralhos fans' excitement grew in the 60th match minute when Gralhos's Cristiano Aguiar looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 63 minutes into the match, Mealhada FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristiano Aguiar came free, but João Moniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Paulo Assis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute, Cristiano Aguiar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Mealhada FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristiano Aguiar came free, but João Moniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Trindade in the 76th minute of play forced Mealhada FC's goalkeeper João Moniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Mealhada FC defense, Paulo Assis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Moniz. The Mealhada FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Moniz should have stopped the shot. Fernando Coelho was extremely unlucky when he, in the 87th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Fernando Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 91st minute, Nuno Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Gralhos had played much better football throughout.
