With his leg Filipe Pinto managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Avilhoso FC's Jorge Delgado fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Vasco Pires's late challenge caught a Cardal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vasco Pires helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Avilhoso FC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Vasco Pires hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Humberto Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cardal's supporters rose to their feet, but Humberto Santos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Miguel Dias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 27 minutes into the game, Cardal's Humberto Santos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Miguel Dias made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Jorge Delgado succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 30th playminute. In the 37th minute Vítor Jesus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filipe Pinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vítor Jesus during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Avilhoso FC's Vítor Jesus got a free kick in the 40th minute. Jorge Delgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Filipe Pinto having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vítor Jesus made a kick off. After 54 minutes, Amadeu Neto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cardal and the Avilhoso FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Filipe Pinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Delgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 67 minutes into the match, Vítor Jesus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Filipe Pinto. Cardal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vítor Jesus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vítor Jesus in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Filipe Pinto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Avilhoso FC's Miguel Dias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Avilhoso FC from getting a goal against them. Miguel Dias was out of position in the 77 minute of play, and Humberto Santos capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Humberto Santos really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. 81 minutes into the game, Cardal's Humberto Santos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vasco Pires took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 87th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Filipe Pinto. Cardal's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Vítor Jesus blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Filipe Pinto having to make a save. The Cardal players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
