Álvaro Branco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Pedro Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Pedro Correia managed to avoid a goal in the 5thth minute, when Setubal FC's Álvaro Branco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Setubal FC's Jorge Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Ramos in the 8th minute of play. 8 minutes into the game, Grijo FC's Afonso Ramos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jorge Lima made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience was convinced that Manuel Faro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jorge Lima was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Álvaro Luz charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Álvaro Luz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Álvaro Luz kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Álvaro Branco in the 17th minute of play forced Grijo FC's goalkeeper Pedro Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Correia came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Setubal FC's Nuno Cabral. But to his dismay, Nuno Cabral quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Pedro Correia made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Nuno Cabral sent off a good shot on target. Luís Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Setubal FC's Cláudio Resende got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Manuel Faro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorge Lima having to make a save. In the 33rd minute Manuel Faro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Afonso Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonso Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Lima having to interfere. Álvaro Branco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Pedro Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 40 minutes of play Grijo FC's Álvaro Luz was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Álvaro Luz hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 50th minute the ball was on its way in behind Grijo FC's goalkeeper Pedro Correia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Álvaro Branco to make the kick off. A collision led to Setubal FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Viriato Castro hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Álvaro Branco in the 58th minute of play forced Grijo FC's goalkeeper Pedro Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 59 minutes, Luís Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grijo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Reis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Grijo FC's zone, Nuno Cabral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Correia came out of the goal and Nuno Cabral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Setubal FC's Álvaro Branco in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Grijo FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 68th minute, Joaquim Abreu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rui Moreira charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rui Moreira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Grijo FC's Rui Moreira got a free kick in the 69th minute. Álvaro Branco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Correia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. The attack was good, but when Álvaro Branco in the 73rd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Afonso Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Lima having to interfere. Setubal FC's Álvaro Branco got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 89th minute Álvaro Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
