Nuno Santarém could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Bernardo Pires made a huge save. In the 7th match minute, Rego was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vítor Macedo to maneuver through the defense. Galeota's Luís Santos got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Henrique Paredes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Américo Amaro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Galeota's Bernardo Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusébio Setúbal in the 48th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Américo Amaro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Henrique Paredes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Américo Amaro, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. The supporters of Galeota booed when Rego was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Setúbal didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute, Rego's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Américo Amaro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The tension between the Galeota and the Rego players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 92nd minute, one of Galeota:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Galeota. The referee gave Rego a penalty, 94 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Vítor Carneiro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Galeota's Bernardo Pires. 2-2. After 97 played minutes Galeota got a freekick which was hit by Luís Santos. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
