The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Augusto Pinho came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Vicoso FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Pinho couldn't finish the play. Almo FC's Lucas Dantas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Moreira in the 12th minute of play. The supporters of Vicoso FC booed when Almo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Dias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Augusto Pinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucas Dantas having to interfere. In the 20th minute David Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucas Dantas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Adelino Dantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Alberto Anjos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Almo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Anjos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Catarino Abreu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 30th match minute, Vicoso FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Anjos to maneuver through the defense. If Alberto Anjos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Anjos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Vicoso FC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Rui Pacheco hit a great ball. Adelino Dantas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Catarino Abreu having to make a save. After 36 minutes, Ricardo Anjos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vicoso FC and the Almo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ricardo Anjos hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. David Moreira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Augusto Pinho to make the kick off. Lucas Dantas made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when David Moreira sent off a good shot on target. 54 minutes into the match, Almo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Augusto Pinho came free, but Lucas Dantas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vicoso FC's goalkeeper Catarino Abreu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 57th minute, Eduardo Jesus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lucas Dantas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Pinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. If David Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Anjos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Catarino Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adelino Dantas, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Almo FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Vicoso FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
