Gaspar Assis made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Jaime Silva sent off a good shot on target. A hard shot 7 in the game by Manuel Simões from a close distance when the talented Gaspar Assis managed to make a qualified save. Gimonde's players were relieved. In the 15th minute, SC Valinhas's Manuel Simões dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Oliveira Sá came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Gimonde's Marco Amorim. But to his dismay, Marco Amorim quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in SC Valinhas's zone, Alexandre Setúbal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oliveira Sá came out of the goal and Alexandre Setúbal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. José Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaspar Assis having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Silva in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gaspar Assis saved Gimonde from getting behind. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alexandre Setúbal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alexandre Setúbal struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Oliveira Sá didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gimonde. José Silva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gaspar Assis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Marco Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Oliveira Sá tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oliveira Sá showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Moutinho in the 68th minute of the match. José Silva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gaspar Assis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Manuel Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaspar Assis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. If José Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
