José Soares charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Soares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to SC Caroceiras getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. José Soares hit a great ball. SC Caroceiras's André Brás played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Castro in the 10th minute of play. Heitor Gonçalves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Coelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Heitor Gonçalves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Coelho in the 23rd minute of the match. Alexandre Gonçalves in the 24thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Heitor Gonçalves, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. André Brás was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in SC Caroceiras's zone, Xavier Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. André Brás came out of the goal and Xavier Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When António Castro came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Lapas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that António Castro couldn't finish the play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Coelho was the one to do the kick off. Bento Paredes hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute João Coelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heitor Gonçalves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If António Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sérgio Neves hit a great ball. 79 minutes into the match, Lapas FC's goal looked a bit too open when João Coelho came free, but Heitor Gonçalves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lapas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but António Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. André Brás breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Caroceiras's goalkeeper André Brás, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Xavier Costa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but André Brás read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play.
