Cristóvão Pinheiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Fontes, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Penaventosa's goalkeeper Inácio Magalhães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Joaquim Assunção did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Inácio Magalhães 14 minutes into the match. Joaquim Correia charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joaquim Correia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joaquim Correia hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. If Joaquim Assunção had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Penaventosa's Inácio Magalhães proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Penaventosa from getting a goal against them. Joaquim Correia was shown his second yellow card after 29 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Inácio Magalhães was a little too slow when Daniel Araújo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 32nd minute. The score was now 2-0. 36 minutes into the match, Penaventosa's goalkeeper Inácio Magalhães had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristiano Ribeiro. When Cândido Brito came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Penaventosa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cândido Brito couldn't finish the play. Jorge Miranda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Cristóvão Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Cândido Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joaquim Assunção sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Penaventosa's goalkeeper Inácio Magalhães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Cândido Brito came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Penaventosa fans jumped to their feet. Cristóvão Pinheiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Penaventosa. The attack was good, but when Joaquim Assunção in the 61st minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. With a little luck, Cucujaes's Cristóvão Pinheiro got control of the ball when Cândido Brito tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Joaquim Assunção had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Inácio Magalhães stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rogério Moniz's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Cândido Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot. Penaventosa's supporters rose to their feet, but Cândido Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristóvão Pinheiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Cucujaes's zone, Manuel Neto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristóvão Pinheiro came out of the goal and Manuel Neto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Cucujaes booed when Penaventosa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Mota didn't get a good kick on the ball. 3-0 became the score in the 84th minute when Cristiano Ribeiro elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 95th minute Joaquim Assunção shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Inácio Magalhães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Cristiano Ribeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Inácio Magalhães was relentless in the 97th minute of the game.
