When Gaspar Matias came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Mestras FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaspar Matias couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd minute José Coimbra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Domingos Ferro came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Montemuro FC's Pedro Lopes. But to his dismay, Pedro Lopes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Alexandre Antunes fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montemuro FC's protests and gave Alexandre Antunes a yellow card for diving instead. Montemuro FC's Francisco Araújo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Coimbra in the 41st minute of play. José Coimbra's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Francisco Araújo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play.

After having played for 54 minutes, Pedro Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montemuro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Lopes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Coimbra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Araújo having to interfere. In the 62nd minute Pedro Lopes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingos Ferro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Mestras FC's zone, Álvaro Correia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Domingos Ferro came out of the goal and Álvaro Correia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedro Carneiro kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. The supporters of Montemuro FC booed when Mestras FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrique Macedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Anjos got in the 69th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Domingos Ferro handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Gaspar Matias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Francisco Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Montemuro FC booed when Mestras FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 77 played minutes, Montemuro FC's Manuel Antunes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Domingos Ferro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Montemuro FC reached it. If Gaspar Matias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eduardo Neves charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eduardo Neves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 84 played minutes Montemuro FC got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Neves. After a rather tough play, Montemuro FC's Álvaro Correia got a free kick in the 86th minute. When Marco Reis fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montemuro FC's protests and gave Marco Reis a yellow card for diving instead. José Coimbra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Araújo having to interfere. If Gaspar Matias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
