After 18 played minutes, SC Guilhufe's Vítor Costa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sandro Nunes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Guilhufe reached it. When Rui Anjos came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the SC Guilhufe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Anjos couldn't finish the play. 33 minutes into the match, Manuel Torres notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of SC Nozelos's Sandro Nunes. Sandro Nunes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Esteves in the 41st minute of play forced SC Nozelos's goalkeeper Sandro Nunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SC Guilhufe's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vítor Costa in the 45th minute. When Joaquim Esteves fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Nozelos's protests and gave Joaquim Esteves a yellow card for diving instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Rui Anjos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Sandro Nunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manuel Torres charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manuel Torres the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. SC Nozelos's Sandro Nunes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save SC Nozelos from getting a goal against them. When Fernando Lima came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the SC Nozelos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernando Lima couldn't finish the play. The SC Guilhufe fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquim Moutinho should have stopped the shot. Joaquim Moutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Lima in the 100th minute of the match.
