When Afonso Santarém fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fioso's protests and gave Afonso Santarém a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SC Caio booed when Fioso was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Santarém didn't get a good kick on the ball. When André Machado came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the SC Caio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Machado couldn't finish the play. Bruno Rodrigues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Filipe Queirós hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Manuel Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raul Amorim in the 19th minute of the match. André Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Delgado having to interfere. Fioso's João Delgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gil Amorim in the 22nd minute of play. Bruno Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Manuel Macedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gil Amorim might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Delgado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gil Amorim ran back to his position shaking his head. If Gil Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute, Emílio Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manuel Macedo made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Raul Amorim sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Amorim in the 32nd minute of play forced Fioso's goalkeeper João Delgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Afonso Santarém kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After 37 minutes of play, SC Caio's Gil Amorim made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. João Delgado was left in no man's land by his defense there! João Delgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Machado, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Raul Amorim was the one to do the kick off. After 51 played minutes Fioso got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Santarém. André Machado who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of João Delgado when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gil Amorim during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 55th match minute, SC Caio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gil Amorim to maneuver through the defense. Emílio Martins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Manuel Macedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Óscar Domingues kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, SC Caio's goal looked a bit too open when Bruno Rodrigues came free, but Manuel Macedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, Fioso's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Amorim came free, but João Delgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manuel Macedo came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Fioso's Bruno Rodrigues.
