It was 0-1, 17 minutes into the match. 20 minutes into the match, João Pinto notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Rolia FC's Heitor Faro. When Domingos Martins fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maxieira FC's protests and gave Domingos Martins a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Maxieira FC's Domingos Martins got a free kick in the 39th minute. Rolia FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gustavo Faria in the 42nd minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

David Branco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Simão Pereira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rolia FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Simão Pereira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joel Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Joel Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Branco, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. In the 84th minute David Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Branco in the 86th minute of play forced Maxieira FC's goalkeeper Joel Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Rolia FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rolia FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
