After 10 minutes, Viriato Lisboa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Calves FC and the SC Assares players grew even worse after the yellow card. Eusébio Guerreiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Jesus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute, Ricardo Leiria left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Assares fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. A collision led to Calves FC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Cristóvão Lima hit a great ball. Américo Nunes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 20th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eusébio Guerreiro. Calves FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ricardo Brás during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 25 played minutes Calves FC got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Brás. Daniel Jesus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Guerreiro having to interfere. If Oliveira Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricardo Brás received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Eduardo Magalhães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oliveira Porto was extremely unlucky when he, in the 40th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Daniel Jesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Ricardo Leiria, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 45 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Eusébio Guerreiro was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ricardo Brás to strike the kick off in the second half. Calves FC's Ricardo Brás got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manuel Ferro charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manuel Ferro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oliveira Porto in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eduardo Magalhães prevented the ball from getting in the gole. João Assis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Eusébio Guerreiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eusébio Guerreiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Leiria, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Eusébio Guerreiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Leiria in the 70th minute of play.
