After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Oliveira Domingues managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Paneladas's supporters rose to their feet, but Oliveira Domingues was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gonçalo Moniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 11 played minutes, SC Cidade's Fernando Leal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jaime Almeida came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Cidade reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Leal in the 12th minute of play forced SC Paneladas's goalkeeper Jaime Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Castro's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Jaime Almeida skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 15 minutes into the game, SC Cidade's Humberto Leal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jaime Almeida made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Paulo Vieira hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the match, SC Cidade's goal looked a bit too open when Xavier Sousa came free, but Gonçalo Moniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xavier Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonçalo Moniz having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

After a defensive mix-up in SC Cidade's zone, Daniel Campos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gonçalo Moniz came out of the goal and Daniel Campos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedro Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Jaime Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oliveira Domingues got free with Gonçalo Moniz in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to SC Cidade getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Alexandre Gueifão hit a great ball. When Pedro Castro came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the SC Cidade fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Castro couldn't finish the play. The attack was good, but when Humberto Leal in the 87th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Jaime Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Castro in the 90th minute of the match. After having played for 91 minutes, Xavier Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Paneladas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xavier Sousa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. SC Cidade's Gonçalo Moniz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xavier Sousa in the 96th minute of play. Jaime Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Teixeira in the 99th minute of play. SC Cidade's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
