Valflor FC's Adolfo Marques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bento Aguiar in the 3rd minute of play. If David Bessa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Armindo Nogueira during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 10th minute, Armindo Nogueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulo Torres made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nuno Amorim in the 14th minute. Rogério Valente charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rogério Valente the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 15 played minutes SC Montao got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Valente. Armindo Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Paulo Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Valflor FC booed when SC Montao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nuno Amorim got free with Paulo Torres in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpected shot in the 26th minute by Nuno Amorim got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 27th minute Daniel Costa suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. A collision led to SC Montao getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Pedro Paiva hit a great ball. Adolfo Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Bessa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nuno Amorim got free with Paulo Torres in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bento Aguiar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adolfo Marques read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. After some careless play in the Valflor FC defense, David Bessa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adolfo Marques. The Valflor FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adolfo Marques should have stopped the shot. Armindo Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Paulo Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After having played for 53 minutes, Nuno Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Valflor FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nuno Amorim was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in SC Montao's zone, Vicente Moreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Torres came out of the goal and Vicente Moreira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 57 minutes into the game, Nuno Amorim cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Paulo Torres was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nuno Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Paulo Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bento Aguiar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bento Aguiar got free with Adolfo Marques in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When SC Montao's David Bessa in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Paulo Torres was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 2-2 became the score in the 90th minute when David Bessa elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 94 minutes into the match, Valflor FC's goal looked a bit too open when David Bessa came free, but Adolfo Marques reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Valflor FC's goalkeeper Adolfo Marques, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
