Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Óscar Ferro started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd minute, Paulo Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 9 minutes into the game, Paulo Rocha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Refontoura's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mendalvo FC the free kick. Paulo Rocha hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Jorge Baptista might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Carneiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jorge Baptista ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 15 minutes, Adelino Bessa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Refontoura's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adelino Bessa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Óscar Ferro sped through SC Refontoura's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Diamantino Nogueira. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexandre Dantas during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alexandre Dantas hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Jorge Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Paulo Carneiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulo Carneiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adolfo Viegas, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Jorge Baptista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Carneiro having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Óscar Ferro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Diamantino Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adolfo Brás in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adolfo Viegas to make the kick off. Mendalvo FC's Paulo Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adolfo Viegas in the 58th minute of play. After 59 minutes, Filipe Ramos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mendalvo FC and the SC Refontoura players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Mendalvo FC getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Filipe Ramos hit a great ball. In the 60th minute Adolfo Viegas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the SC Refontoura defense, Óscar Ferro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Diamantino Nogueira. The SC Refontoura fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Diamantino Nogueira should have stopped the shot. In the 69th match minute, Mendalvo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Dantas to maneuver through the defense. Paulo Carneiro came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Refontoura's Adolfo Viegas. But to his dismay, Adolfo Viegas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Jorge Baptista struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Paulo Carneiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Refontoura. Mendalvo FC's Paulo Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adolfo Viegas in the 76th minute of play. Domingos Resende charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Domingos Resende the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Adolfo Brás sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mendalvo FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
