The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Francisco Pacheco notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Cabecadas FC's Alexandre Dantas. Alexandre Dantas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Cabecadas FC booed when Carnapata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inácio Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th match minute, Carnapata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Matias to maneuver through the defense. If Humberto Borba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Pedro Lisboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Carnapata defense, Humberto Borba kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Álvaro Amaro. The Carnapata fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Álvaro Amaro should have stopped the shot. Álvaro Amaro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Humberto Borba in the 21st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Matias in the 23rd minute of play forced Cabecadas FC's goalkeeper Alexandre Dantas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexandre Matias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Pedro Lisboa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Álvaro Amaro was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. After 34 played minutes Carnapata got a freekick which was hit by Lúcio Maia. If Humberto Borba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. After a rather tough play, Cabecadas FC's João Anjos got a free kick in the 41st minute. Inácio Castro, 42 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Carnapata's Francisco Pacheco got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The wind increased when Alexandre Matias made the kick off in the second half. Humberto Borba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Álvaro Amaro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Carnapata's Álvaro Amaro got control of the ball when Pedro Lisboa tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Pedro Lisboa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cabecadas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Lisboa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Álvaro Amaro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedro Lisboa in the 66thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. After 79 minutes, António Ribeiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carnapata and the Cabecadas FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Carnapata getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. António Ribeiro hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Lisboa got free with Álvaro Amaro in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Humberto Borba took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Álvaro Amaro to make any attempt to save it. Francisco Pacheco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Alexandre Dantas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Inácio Branco kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Alexandre Dantas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Pacheco in the 94th minute of play. Afonso Leão struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Álvaro Amaro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cabecadas FC.
