In the 5th minute, one of SC Descoberto:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Descoberto. Gafete were awarded a corner in the 8th minute after SC Descoberto's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nuno Rodrigues took the corner. David Reis was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The supporters of SC Descoberto booed when Gafete was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Afonso Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Augusto Gomes might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Miguel Domingues. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Augusto Gomes ran back to his position shaking his head. Afonso Monteiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miguel Domingues read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. When Fábio Carneiro came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the SC Descoberto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fábio Carneiro couldn't finish the play. If Afonso Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fábio Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Nuno Dantas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jacinto Miranda came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the SC Descoberto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jacinto Miranda couldn't finish the play. Augusto Gomes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Miguel Domingues made a huge save. Fábio Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Nuno Dantas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by João Costa during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. João Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Afonso Monteiro struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Miguel Domingues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gafete. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when José Pacheco made the kick off in the second half. When Fábio Carneiro came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the SC Descoberto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fábio Carneiro couldn't finish the play. Afonso Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Domingues having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Gomes in the 68th minute of play forced SC Descoberto's goalkeeper Miguel Domingues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Afonso Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Gafete booed when SC Descoberto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 75 played minutes SC Descoberto got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Coimbra. Nuno Rodrigues fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 77th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. In the 79th minute of the match Jorge Branco shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Miguel Domingues showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Descoberto's goalkeeper Miguel Domingues, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Augusto Gomes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Miguel Domingues was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. After 89 minutes of play, Gafete's Augusto Gomes made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Miguel Domingues was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gafete's Nuno Dantas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Pacheco in the 93rd minute of play. SC Descoberto's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
