Zoio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Alviaes the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Zoio's zone, José Gaspar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexandre Aleixo came out of the goal and José Gaspar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Faria in the 16th minute of play forced Zoio's goalkeeper Alexandre Aleixo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Sérgio Borges was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 16 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Zoio's Rui Campos got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Zoio's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alexandre Cruz was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Alviaes's players had a chance to rest. Alexandre Cruz made a great header on SC Alviaes's corner, it was just that Zoio's Alexandre Aleixo managed to reach the ball for a save. 28 minutes into the match, Augusto Nogueira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Xavier Martins. If Augusto Nogueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xavier Martins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Nogueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
