The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jorge Coelho during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to SC Aranhas getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Jorge Coelho hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sérgio Silva in the 21st minute of play forced SC Aranhas's goalkeeper Augusto Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Augusto Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the game, Américo Martins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Augusto Soares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Luís Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Sérgio Silva struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Augusto Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Garganta FC. After 57 minutes of play, SC Aranhas's José Magalhães made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Viriato Anjos was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, José Magalhães put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Viriato Anjos. In the 92nd minute, Manuel Marques hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When SC Aranhas's José Magalhães in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Garganta FC's goalie prevented a goal.
