If Hugo Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Miguel Leiria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Humberto Cardoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Leiria in the 25th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Hugo Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot. Benagouro FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Viana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Simões breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Leiria in the 73rd minute of play forced Benagouro FC's goalkeeper Humberto Cardoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amadeu Vale struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Humberto Cardoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Salgueirais. The corner led Benagouro FC's Alfredo Leiria to fire away a dangerous shot which José Simões despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The SC Salgueirais supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Salgueirais would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
