In the 25th minute, Carlos Borba ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cândido Branco was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. If Artur Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonso Nogueira took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cândido Branco. Cândido Branco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. When Oliveira Tavares fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mendo FC's protests and gave Oliveira Tavares a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Henriques in the 45th minute of play forced Mendo FC's goalkeeper Cândido Branco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredo Henriques stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Fial's Daniel Ferro got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Rafael Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. António Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Artur Pinho in the 68th minute of the match. Alfredo Henriques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cândido Branco having to interfere. António Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Pinho in the 75th minute of play. In the 75th minute, Carlos Borba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Artur Pinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Rafael Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mendo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafael Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the match, Mendo FC's goalkeeper Cândido Branco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Álvaro Paiva. Alfredo Henriques received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Cândido Branco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vítor Araújo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Cândido Branco firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Oliveira Tavares was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 87 minutes had been played. The supporters of Fial booed when Mendo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oliveira Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Alfredo Henriques came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Fial fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Henriques couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Mendo FC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. David Paiva hit a great ball.
