SC Castelao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Sousa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sebastião Teixeira's late challenge caught a SC Castelao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sebastião Teixeira helped the player get up and apologised. After 12 played minutes SC Brunhoso got a freekick which was hit by Sebastião Teixeira. A collision led to SC Brunhoso getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Domingos Nogueira hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vicente Garcia in the 18th minute of play forced SC Castelao's goalkeeper João Gomes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Domingos Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Brunhoso's supporters rose to their feet, but Domingos Nogueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Gomes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gustavo Moutinho during the 25th minute. Domingos Nogueira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

João Gomes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Brunhoso. Vicente Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Gomes having to interfere. SC Castelao were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
