Afonso Anjos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duarte Silva having to interfere. In the 17th minute of the match SC Ventozelos got a corner. SC Gominhaes's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rui Monteiro ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 21st minute Cristóvão Dantas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Aleixo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rui Guerreiro in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sérgio Aleixo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sérgio Aleixo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristóvão Dantas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rui Guerreiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sérgio Aleixo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rui Guerreiro ran back to his position shaking his head. 41 minutes in the game, Manuel Ribeiro fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Duarte Silva having to interfere. Sérgio Aleixo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Guerreiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Guerreiro in the 47th minute of play forced SC Gominhaes's goalkeeper Sérgio Aleixo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Afonso Anjos was the one to do the kick off. After taking down the ball on SC Gominhaes's corner João Almeida fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Duarte Silva quite easily take care of the ball. Afonso Anjos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Duarte Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Cláudio Amaro fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Ventozelos's protests and gave Cláudio Amaro a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to SC Ventozelos getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Cláudio Amaro hit a great ball. 71 minutes into the match, SC Ventozelos's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Ribeiro came free, but Duarte Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Duarte Silva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Ribeiro in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 74th minute, Cristóvão Dantas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Sérgio Aleixo. The goal made the score 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in SC Ventozelos's zone, Afonso Anjos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duarte Silva came out of the goal and Afonso Anjos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of SC Ventozelos booed when SC Gominhaes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaspar Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. 87 minutes into the game, Tomás Ramos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Ventozelos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Gominhaes the free kick. The supporters of SC Gominhaes booed when SC Ventozelos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball.
