Eduardo Viegas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, SC Gominhaes's Álvaro Marques got a free kick in the 46th minute. Eduardo Viegas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Sérgio Aleixo made a huge save. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Afonso Anjos to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedro Gonçalves during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eduardo Viegas hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 91st minute of the match, Manuel Ribeiro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Óscar Barros was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of SC Gominhaes booed when Canais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Gonçalves didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when SC Gominhaes's Afonso Anjos fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. The SC Gominhaes supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Gominhaes would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
