The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaspar Alves got free with Joel Vale in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gaspar Alves in the 26thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. In the 38th minute Jorge Mendes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 39th minute, Catarino Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luís Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Nascimento having to interfere. Jacinto Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. David Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jacinto Costa made a kick off. Sesmo FC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Afonsos FC had won, even though Sesmo FC had held more of the ball.
