Lúcio Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Domingues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 9 played minutes SC Benagil got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Abreu. Joel Luz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lúcio Nascimento having to interfere. In the 11th match minute, SC Benagil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raul Macedo to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute André Domingues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lúcio Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes had been played when some careless play by SC Benagil's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jaime Pacheco was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Gravateira's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on SC Gravateira's corner Óscar Sá fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Lúcio Nascimento quite easily take care of the ball. 22 minutes into the match, SC Gravateira's André Domingues sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lúcio Nascimento narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Joel Luz managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Gravateira's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Luz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lúcio Nascimento breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vicente Nunes during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to SC Benagil getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Vicente Nunes hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, SC Gravateira's Joel Luz got a free kick in the 37th minute. The supporters of SC Gravateira booed when SC Benagil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adelino Baptista made a kick off. In the 62nd minute Jaime Leiria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filipe Guarda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 64th minute, Jaime Leiria got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 67th minute, Joel Luz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Gravateira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 73rd match minute, SC Benagil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Filipe Guarda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adelino Baptista, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. When Augusto Gomes fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Benagil's protests and gave Augusto Gomes a yellow card for diving instead. After 87 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SC Benagil! Lúcio Nascimento made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Joel Luz sent off a good shot on target. SC Gravateira's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
