Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Sebastião Baptista made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 7th minute Sebastião Baptista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquim Resende saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jorge Leal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joaquim Resende read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gondrozeira's zone, Cláudio Veiga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armindo Lisboa came out of the goal and Cláudio Veiga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Armindo Lisboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cláudio Veiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Hugo Moutinho's late challenge caught a Mereces FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hugo Moutinho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 18th match minute, Gondrozeira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Moutinho to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Américo Sousa in the 23rd minute of play forced Mereces FC's goalkeeper Joaquim Resende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 25 minutes, Sebastião Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gondrozeira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastião Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sebastião Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Joaquim Resende tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Gonçalves kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. In the 33rd minute Gondrozeira were awarded a corner. Vicente Ribeiro went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Vicente Ribeiro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Mereces FC's Joaquim Resende did a great save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sebastião Baptista in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquim Resende saved Mereces FC from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Jorge Leal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquim Resende was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. In the 39th minute, Oliveira Melo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cláudio Veiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Jorge Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mereces FC's Joaquim Resende played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastião Baptista in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Mereces FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastião Baptista came free, but Joaquim Resende reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gondrozeira's Jorge Leal got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sebastião Baptista received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Joaquim Resende came out and tried to block the shot, but Sebastião Baptista slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 61st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastião Baptista in the 67th minute of play forced Mereces FC's goalkeeper Joaquim Resende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 70 played minutes, Mereces FC's Vítor Carneiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Armindo Lisboa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mereces FC reached it. After 73 played minutes Mereces FC got a freekick which was hit by Vítor Carneiro. Jorge Leal made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 75thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Joaquim Resende would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. With splendid footwork Jorge Leal arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-2 by the left pole in the game's 75th minute. Alexandre Araújo's late challenge caught a Gondrozeira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexandre Araújo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 79th minute, one of Mereces FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mereces FC. Vítor Carneiro lost his temper 85 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Armindo Lisboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Porto in the 96th minute of play.
