But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hélder Campos couldn't finish the play. Simão Figueiredo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hélder Campos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Branco having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Cristiano Anjos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Diogo Amaral. Salga FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristiano Anjos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 17th minute, Simão Figueiredo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cláudio Branco. The goal made the score 1-1. After 22 minutes, Paulo Dias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Salga FC and the Briteiros players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Salga FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Paulo Dias hit a great ball. In the 24th minute, Cristiano Anjos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Diogo Amaral was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. If Xavier Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Salga FC's zone, Xavier Moura stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diogo Amaral came out of the goal and Xavier Moura tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Salga FC's Diogo Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Anjos in the 41st minute of play. Diogo Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristiano Anjos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Paulo Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Salga FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Dias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cláudio Branco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
