The supporters of SC Marinhais booed when SC Assares was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Aleixo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Inácio Pacheco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastião Pinto having to interfere. When SC Assares's António Aleixo in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Marinhais's goalie prevented a goal. When Nuno Pedroso fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Assares's protests and gave Nuno Pedroso a yellow card for diving instead. 27 minutes into the match, SC Marinhais's Abel Correia broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Tiago Pinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano Abreu, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. A collision led to SC Marinhais getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Cristóvão Guerreiro hit a great ball. 33 minutes into the game, SC Assares's Pedro Soares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sebastião Pinto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 38 played minutes SC Marinhais got a freekick which was hit by António Leão. Henrique Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiago Pinho having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Inácio Pacheco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute, Vicente Neto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in SC Assares's zone, Cristiano Abreu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tiago Pinho came out of the goal and Cristiano Abreu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SC Assares's Tiago Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Abreu in the 68th minute of play. 70 minutes into the match, Henrique Lima notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of SC Assares's Tiago Pinho. Tiago Pinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 76th minute of the match, Inácio Pacheco got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sebastião Pinto was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. SC Assares's Tiago Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Abreu in the 81st minute of play. Adelino Neves's late challenge caught a SC Marinhais's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When Adelino Neves was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 89 minutes had been played. A collision led to SC Assares getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Adelino Neves hit a great ball. In the 91st minute of the match Abel Correia sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tiago Pinho skillfully saved the ball. Henrique Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiago Pinho having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
