The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristóvão Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Barreiro FC's Afonso Santos got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Hélder Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Coimbra having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Barreiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Abreu came free, but Miguel Coimbra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristóvão Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Coimbra having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Barreiro FC's Jaime Coelho got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute of the match Delfim Tavares shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Miguel Coimbra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gustavo Campos during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cristóvão Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Coimbra having to interfere. Fernando Faro struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Fernando Baptista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barreiro FC. Hélder Abreu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Cristóvão Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30thth minute of the game Hélder Abreu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barreiro FC's Miguel Coimbra was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Miguel Coimbra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hélder Abreu in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Faro in the 35th minute of play forced Algeraz's goalkeeper Fernando Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amílcar Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Baptista having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Álvaro Morais during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernando Faro was the one to do the kick off. Cristóvão Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Amílcar Aguiar scored 1-0 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernando Baptista, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Algeraz's Fernando Baptista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Santos in the 67th minute of play. Henrique Leiria charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Henrique Leiria the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 68th minute, Henrique Leiria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfredo Nunes's shot from long distance in the 70th minute was not bad at all, but Barreiro FC's Miguel Coimbra knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Barreiro FC's Miguel Coimbra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Barreiro FC from getting a goal against them. After 73 minutes of play Barreiro FC's Álvaro Morais was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Álvaro Morais hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Gustavo Campos kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, Barreiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristóvão Cunha came free, but Miguel Coimbra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 86 played minutes Cristóvão Cunha rounded Barreiro FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. Miguel Coimbra made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Hélder Abreu sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Albertino Amorim during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 92nd match minute, Barreiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertino Amorim to maneuver through the defense. In the 95th minute Algeraz were awarded a corner. Delfim Tavares went to the cornerflag to take it. Algeraz's Delfim Tavares was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Miguel Coimbra in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristóvão Cunha in the 97th minute of play forced Barreiro FC's goalkeeper Miguel Coimbra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
