Emanuel Cruz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lúcio Pinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emanuel Cruz came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Ataide FC's Afonso Abreu. But to his dismay, Afonso Abreu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 12th minute, Afonso Abreu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Cristiano Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastião Esteves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Resende having to interfere. When Bernardo Esteves fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ataide FC's protests and gave Bernardo Esteves a yellow card for diving instead. After 20 played minutes Ataide FC got a freekick which was hit by Bernardo Esteves. In the 22nd match minute, Ataide FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardo Esteves to maneuver through the defense. Pinheiro FC's Cristóvão Castro couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ataide FC. Lúcio Pinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Resende made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristiano Veiga in the 28th minute. The supporters of Pinheiro FC booed when Ataide FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Esteves didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Cristiano Veiga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Resende. Ataide FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristiano Veiga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 34 minutes into the match, Pinheiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Abreu came free, but Emanuel Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sebastião Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. João Resende made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastião Esteves in the 40th minute of play. Sebastião Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Cristóvão Castro fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pinheiro FC's protests and gave Cristóvão Castro a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of Pinheiro FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ataide FC:s goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sebastião Esteves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lúcio Pinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Abreu in the 57th minute of play forced Pinheiro FC's goalkeeper Emanuel Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lúcio Pinto got free with Emanuel Cruz in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ataide FC's Bernardo Esteves got his second yellow card of the match in the 64th minute. The referee ordered Bernardo Esteves off the ground. Bernardo Esteves kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, Cristiano Veiga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 75 minutes, Cristiano Veiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pinheiro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristiano Veiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Lúcio Pinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristiano Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Afonso Abreu kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Pinheiro FC's Sebastião Esteves got a free kick in the 92nd minute.
