The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. David Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Sebastião Borges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute João Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gil Torres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th match minute, Covancas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiago Pinheiro to maneuver through the defense. Contencas's João Pires got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 35 minutes into the match, Covancas's David Silva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sebastião Borges narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When João Pires came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Contencas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Pires couldn't finish the play. When Contencas's Xavier Fernandes in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Covancas's goalie prevented a goal. After 38 minutes of play, Contencas's João Pires made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gil Torres was left in no man's land by his defense there! 48 minutes into the match, Contencas's goal looked a bit too open when David Silva came free, but Sebastião Borges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Gil Torres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Pires in the 77th minute of the match. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Covancas's goalkeeper Gil Torres, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 81st minute, André Fontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot 85 in the game by Xavier Fernandes from a close distance when the talented Gil Torres managed to make a qualified save. Covancas's players were relieved. If João Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Xavier Fernandes struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Rodrigo Silva charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rodrigo Silva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Covancas's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Xavier Luz in the 93rd minute. The corner ended in Xavier Luz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Contencas's Sebastião Borges did a great save. In the 94th minute, Xavier Fernandes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Covancas's David Silva, in the 95th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Covancas. Contencas's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
