The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute of the match Viriato Azevedo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mário Viana showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 5 minutes into the game, Cândido Teixeira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Sérgio Miranda was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mário Viana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Henriques in the 8th minute of play. Sérgio Miranda was out of position in the 13 minute of play, and Gaspar Ferreira capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gaspar Ferreira really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. The supporters of Amieira FC booed when Gambelas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sérgio Miranda made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cândido Teixeira in the 21st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Cândido Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Amieira FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cândido Teixeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sérgio Miranda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 23rd minute, Joaquim Barbosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 25 played minutes, Gambelas's Viriato Azevedo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mário Viana came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gambelas reached it. Cândido Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gaspar Ferreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mário Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sérgio Leão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Miguel Paiva's late challenge caught a Gambelas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miguel Paiva helped the player get up and apologised. Sérgio Leão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 47th minute, Cândido Teixeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Gaspar Ferreira made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Cândido Teixeira made a precise shot to the right of Sérgio Miranda. Gambelas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. If Sérgio Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gaspar Ferreira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Gambelas players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Amieira FC.
