In the 7th minute, Jorge Henriques got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sérgio Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacinto Andrade having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomás Amaral during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 10 played minutes Gambelas got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Amaral. Pedro Pinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, Jorge Henriques got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sérgio Leão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Jacinto Andrade made a huge save. 17 minutes into the match, Gambelas's Jorge Henriques sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacinto Andrade narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Ataes getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. António Matos hit a great ball. Jorge Henriques recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 20th minute, António Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute, Pedro Pinto made a precise shot to the right of Sérgio Miranda. Gambelas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Pedro Pinto scored 0-2 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sérgio Miranda, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 37th minute, Tomás Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rui Valente blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sérgio Miranda having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Gambelas's Cristiano Rocha got a free kick in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

In the 53rd match minute, Gambelas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Barros to maneuver through the defense. When Pedro Pinto fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ataes's protests and gave Pedro Pinto a yellow card for diving instead. Pedro Pinto kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the game, Gambelas's Sérgio Leão nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacinto Andrade made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 63rd minute of the match, Pedro Pinto got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sérgio Miranda was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Sérgio Miranda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Valente, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Gambelas's Sérgio Miranda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Gambelas from getting a goal against them. If Pedro Pinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 70th minute by Rui Valente got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Ataes's zone, Cristiano Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacinto Andrade came out of the goal and Cristiano Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ataes's goalkeeper Jacinto Andrade, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rui Valente in the 91stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Sérgio Miranda, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Cristiano Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gambelas's protests and gave Cristiano Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. Cristiano Rocha hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match.
