Artur Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amílcar Azevedo having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 11 minutes into the game, when Fernando Luz put in a rough tackle. Duarte Correia hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute of the match Tomás Maia shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hugo Coimbra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristiano Rodrigues in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hugo Coimbra saved Murteirinha FC from getting behind. If Adelino Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristiano Fernandes kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After 33 minutes of play, Murteirinha FC's Adelino Branco made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Amílcar Azevedo was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Murteirinha FC's zone, Pedro Leiria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hugo Coimbra came out of the goal and Pedro Leiria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hugo Coimbra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Leiria, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Cristiano Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Hugo Coimbra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Pedro Leiria managed to get in a good position for a shot. Travassos's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Leiria was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hugo Coimbra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Travassos were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 66th minute Cristiano Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Coimbra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
