Bernardo Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Raul Aguiar managed to avoid a goal in the 36thth minute, when Vargem FC's Gil Assis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Paulo Resende fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Levadas's protests and gave Paulo Resende a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th match minute, SC Levadas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo Resende to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute, Vicente Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in SC Levadas's zone, Gil Assis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raul Aguiar came out of the goal and Gil Assis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Francisco Silva came up free with the goalie in the 49th minute, the SC Levadas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Silva couldn't finish the play.
Vargem FC's Bernardo Leão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Vargem FC from getting a goal against them. Paulo Resende was shown his second yellow card after 59 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Assis in the 62nd minute of play forced SC Levadas's goalkeeper Raul Aguiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the SC Levadas defense, João Resende kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raul Aguiar. The SC Levadas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raul Aguiar should have stopped the shot. SC Levadas's Francisco Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gil Assis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Raul Aguiar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 79th minute João Resende shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raul Aguiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gonçalo Henriques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raul Aguiar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of João Resende's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. After a rather tough play, SC Levadas's Gabriel Branco got a free kick in the 89th minute. After having played for 90 minutes, João Resende managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vargem FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Resende was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Vargem FC getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. João Resende hit a great ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the SC Levadas players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Vargem FC.
