Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Filipe Dias got the match started through his kick off. When Jacinto Gaspar came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Cambaia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jacinto Gaspar couldn't finish the play. When Catarino Delgado fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vareiros's protests and gave Catarino Delgado a yellow card for diving instead. In the 10th match minute, Vareiros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Catarino Delgado to maneuver through the defense. Gaspar Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Rodrigo Pires tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the game, Álvaro Santos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vareiros's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cambaia the free kick. In the 17th minute, João Amaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joaquim Nascimento was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 18th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Américo Lisboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Borba in the 20th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Gaspar Coelho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cambaia's supporters rose to their feet, but Gaspar Coelho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodrigo Pires breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cambaia's Jacinto Gaspar got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Pedro Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gaspar Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodrigo Pires having to interfere. Jacinto Gaspar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Rodrigo Pires made a huge save. In the 43rd match minute, Vareiros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filipe Dias to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Jacinto Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cambaia's supporters rose to their feet, but Jacinto Gaspar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodrigo Pires breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 46th minute of the match, Gaspar Coelho tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rodrigo Pires saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gaspar Coelho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Jacinto Gaspar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacinto Gaspar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Rodrigo Pires tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 60 minutes had been played when some careless play by Cambaia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marco Carneiro was slow to take the kick. During this time Vareiros's players had a chance to rest. Marco Carneiro made a great header on Vareiros's corner, it was just that Cambaia's Américo Lisboa managed to reach the ball for a save. Pedro Maia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Américo Lisboa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. In the 86th minute Gaspar Coelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Pires saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Jacinto Gaspar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rodrigo Pires. Vareiros's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jacinto Gaspar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Cambaia's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
